ASSURE Lesson Plan/Model

The ASSURE Model was chosen because it is a means of planning and conducting instruction which facilitates the use of various media. It provides a more simple and concise method of organizing the lesson plan. It is also one of the most widely used models for this subject area.

Rationale

The rationale for using the ASSURE Model, an offspring of ADDIE was primarily for its learner-focused paradigm, even though no needs analysis is incorporated and it has a narrower purpose than its predecessor. The ASSURE Model includes a specific step to ensure participation by the learners in a non traditional method making it a less routine exercise for students who will find it more inviting. Additionally, it was created using cognitive theories as its foundation making it quite appealing (Megaw, n.d.).
